In the Tahitian Village area of Bastrop, Texas, the 24-acre Bastrop County Nature Park is an official take-out point on the Colorado River for the Texas Paddling Trail system, providing free river access and a boat dock. Swimming is allowed. Visitors can also enjoy the BBQ pits and its great picnic area.
The 7.5 miles of the Lost Pines Nature Trails (rated Moderate for walking) threading through the park and the Colorado River Refuge next to it, are also great for hiking and birding. Admission is free to both areas.
